China: Collaboration with China on Clean Energy Research

The global need to significantly reduce environmental emissions and improve the efficiency of fossil fuel conversion drives carbon capture, utilization and storage research. The Clean Energy Research project, as part of Annex VI of the Protocol for Cooperation in the field of Fossil Energy Technology Development and Utilization between the U.S. Department of Energy and the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology, is responding to this need. The project brings together researchers from PNNL, the National Energy Technology Laboratory, and the three Chinese Academy of Sciences Institutes: the Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, and the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics.
